Compare prices before you choose a petrol station

Petrol and diesel prices can differ between nearby stations. Search by postcode or town, choose the grade your vehicle uses and sort results by price or distance. You can narrow the results to supermarket petrol stations, then open a station record for its location, prices and timestamp.

Start with petrol and diesel prices by area, compare grade-specific brand samples, see the dated national price history, or use the journey cost calculator to estimate fuel use and spend.

Frequently asked questions

How often are CarFuel prices updated?

CarFuel compares eligible price records supplied through the UK Government’s Fuel Finder service. Each station price has its own record time, and comparisons use a rolling 30-day freshness window. The homepage badge reports the latest successful data sync when its time is recorded; if no sync time is available, it says so rather than using a station price timestamp. Prices are not live pump readings. Check a local area page or station result before you travel.

Where do CarFuel petrol and diesel prices come from?

CarFuel uses station and price records from the UK Government’s Fuel Finder service. Comparisons include records from its rolling 30-day freshness window that pass broad plausibility checks. Those checks do not confirm the price currently shown on a pump. Area pages show eligible sample sizes, and petrol station pages show individual prices and timestamps.

How do I find the lowest fuel price near me?

Enter a postcode or town in station search, or use the location control, then choose a fuel grade and radius and sort by price. The CHEAPEST label marks the lowest listed price among the results shown for that grade; it does not include the cost of a detour. Check the station record before setting off.

Is CarFuel free to use?

CarFuel’s public price comparisons, area pages and calculators are available without a sign-up or subscription. Use the journey cost calculator to estimate fuel use and cost from your own route and vehicle details.

Can I find public EV charging stations on CarFuel?

CarFuel does not currently provide a public chargepoint directory, connector details or live charger availability. The journey calculator has an electric mode for estimating cost when you enter your vehicle energy use and price per kWh.
