A clearer comparison for everyday driving

About CarFuel

Finding a lower pump price is useful. Knowing what the comparison includes, when it was recorded and how far you may need to travel is even more useful.

CarFuel brings recent petrol station prices into one place so drivers can compare a chosen fuel grade before they leave home, work or the road they are already on. The aim is practical: make the available information easier to inspect, not tell anyone which retailer they must choose.

Built around the decision drivers actually make

A price comparison is only helpful when it is specific enough to use. CarFuel lets you search by postcode, town or current location, choose petrol or diesel grade, set a search radius and arrange the results by distance or price. The map gives a quick sense of where stations sit; each result keeps the recorded price and its change time visible.

Start with your area

Use a postcode, a named place or an optional browser location. You can keep location access off and still search by typing.

Compare the right grade

Choose the fuel your vehicle is meant to use. A lower figure for another grade is not a like-for-like saving.

Think beyond the pump

The trip calculator estimates fuel cost from distance, economy and price. The station calculator estimates a fill-up from litres and a recorded pump price.

How a CarFuel price comparison is assembled

  1. Choose a location and grade. The result set is limited to the selected fuel, area and distance settings. A supermarket-only option groups retailers using their reported brand names.
  2. Check the station record. CarFuel uses the recorded station price and timestamp. Rows outside the configured 30-day freshness window or broad plausibility checks are excluded from comparisons.
  3. Read the ordering in context. “Nearest first” sorts by straight-line distance, not driving time. “Cheapest first” sorts by the selected grade. The CHEAPEST marker identifies the lowest listed result even when the list is sorted by distance.
  4. Make the final check before filling. Pump prices can change after a record is received. Confirm the displayed price at the petrol station before you buy.
What the map means. Station pins use the stored coordinates on an OpenStreetMap background. A coloured price band compares the prices shown on that map; it does not account for loyalty discounts, payment conditions, route time or whether a particular pump is temporarily unavailable.

Useful, with the limits left in view

CarFuel is a comparison service, not a fuel retailer and not a live pump display. Retailers and data providers are responsible for their submissions; CarFuel applies basic eligibility checks but does not independently visit every petrol station. A price can be correct for the time it was recorded and still differ from the sign when you arrive.

Search distance is a straight-line estimate, so a river, one-way system or motorway may make the actual drive longer. Calculator results are estimates too: your vehicle, traffic, driving style and route all affect real fuel use.
