When you search for the cheapest petrol station near you, make the fuel grade your first filter. E10 is the standard grade in Great Britain, while E5 is generally sold as a premium grade. Some older vehicles and equipment may need E5, so do not choose a grade on price alone.
Check the handbook, filler-cap label or the official GOV.UK E10 compatibility guidance. If you remain unsure, ask the vehicle manufacturer. This is more important than a small price difference.
Compare the same product and trip
On the nearby search page, compare the same grade across stations and look at the record time. Then ask whether the candidate is on your route. Calculate the price gap against the litres you will buy before deciding to drive farther.
If a page shows a single record, it is not a sample average. Pump prices can change, so verify the grade and price at the station before filling. A useful result narrows your options; it does not replace the label on the pump or your vehicle guidance.
Prices and availability can change. Check the current pump price and the fuel grade approved for your vehicle before filling.
